Mommy-Daughter Trip to San Diego

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to take my eldest daughter to San Diego for the weekend. It was so special, just the two of us on a big adventure over the ocean. We had such a blast visiting my best friend and college roommate (all four years of college), Elyse!

Elyse is from San Diego and lives there with her husband and daughter whose birthday is just a few days earlier than my daughter’s. We even shared the same due date, Elyse and me! It was a whirlwind trip but I’m so thankful that Ruby and I have these memories together. Thank you Elyse for hosting us so graciously! Here are a few highlights from our trip.

First off, can I just mention that when we were boarding our flight to San Diego, we ran into the captain who asked if Ruby would like to sit in the cockpit?! It was so cool!! Ruby was thrilled to check it all out. It also helped us feel more at ease on our landing descent when there was severe turbulence, because we had met the captain and knew he would take good care of us. đŸ˜‰

While in San Diego, we got to visit my alma mater Point Loma Nazarene University and show the girls where Elyse and I met and hold so many dear memories! We also went shopping and sightseeing and played at the park (one of my favorite memories of our time there!) A few of my dear gal pals also made the trip to eat lunch with us one day and that was a sweet time of fellowship, talking about how much we’ve all grown up since our early 20s. Conversations included marriage, having kids, and budgeting. We really are in our legit mid to late 30s now! hehe.

I hope I get to do more trips like this with each of the kids as they get older. I treasure the one-on-one time of getting to enjoy each of my babies, learning who they are and who they are becoming. xx
