Patchwork Quilt Family Photos

“The thing I remember best about successful people I’ve met all through the years is their obvious delight in what they’re doing and it seems to have very little to do with worldly success. They just love what they’re doing, and they love it in front of others.”

– Mister Rogers

After a week of sickness (some sort of cold-meets stomach bug-meets flu) circulating around our house, we are finally starting to feel like ourselves again. Praise Jesus! To celebrate this newfound energy, I took Ruby on a mommy-daughter date today to get our nails painted (I picked “Barbie pink” and Ruby picked “Unicorn Glitter”). We then went out for lunch and shopping and made an afternoon of one-on-one girl time. It was such a blast! Ruby really impressed me by using a good part of her earnings (from daily/weekly chores) to buy her siblings each a toy at the store. She was beaming as she thoughtfully decided on a gift she thought Cyrus and Rosie would especially love. Today, I learned a good deal about generosity from my eight-year-old. I’m so thankful for these kids and for Ken! God is teaching me so much in this season of parenting three children.

After rest time which included playing with new aforementioned toys, Ken helped me set up a makeshift backdrop in our yard for summer photos. Our patchwork quilt seemed perfect – also we just washed it and it needed a good air dry. 😉 This evening’s cool weather felt just right. These kids are growing up so quickly and I’m so thankful to get photos of everyone together! I cannot believe that Rosie is starting kindergarten in a few short weeks. Makes me a little weepy.

Well, it’s time to wrap-up and treat the kids to a little post-dinner treat. Hope you’re having a wonderful summer evening yourself! xx
